Massage Envy
Don and Caroline Taylor have a habit of joking their way into highly successful ventures. Starting with their marriage. After graduating from Clemson, Caroline was living the good life as a young, single teacher in Beaufort. Then she met Don, a young, single Marine Corps officer stationed at Parris Island.
“We had no intention to be serious,” Caroline remembers. “We joked about falling in love.” Less than a year later, they were married. Fast-forward three kids and a move to Silicon Valley to pursue Don’s technology career. Caroline immersed herself in the San Jose volunteer scene. On a rare night away Don ran across an article about an entrepreneurial young couple and joked that the wife’s creativity was adding to her family’s bottom line rather than bolstering her local Junior League. The company? Massage Envy.
Less than a year later the Taylors brought Massage Envy’s convenient and affordable approach to relaxation home to Caroline’s beloved Greenville. And as fate would have it, Caroline credits her business success to the leadership training she received in, yes, the Junior League, of which she is a proud sustaining member.
The Taylors, pictured here with their 9-year-old daughter, Grace, still can’t figure out why their high school sons boycotted the photo shoot this year!
